iSpyNow Installation Guide - How to Setup iSpyNow

Step 6

You are now logged into your iSpyNOW member account! There is not much to do here yet, because you have not configured an iSpyNOW module. The iSpyNOW module is a small file that is executed on the target machine you wish to record. All activity done on that PC will be sent to your control panel, where only you have access to it to review recorded log data.

To begin creating your iSpyNOW module, load up the iSpyNOW Tray Companion software, and right click it's icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen. In the menu that appears, select "Create iSpyNOW Module..." (as seen in the picture below).

Once you have clicked "Configure iSpyNOW Module" in the options that appear, you will be greeted with a window (as seen below) where you can create your iSpyNOW module.

Validating Your Account

Before you can create and save your custom built iSpyNOW module, you must validate your username and password. To do this, type in your username and password in the fields above. The username and passwords should be typed in exactly as you created them (in step 4). Once you have typed in your iSpyNOW username and password into the fields above, click the "Test Account Settings" button to begin the validation process.

If you receive an error stating that your account username and password would NOT be verified, ensure that you are typing in your username and password correctly. Remember, your username and password are both case sensitive, so they MUST be typed in exactly as you created then in the account creation process. Also - make sure you have not added in any extra spaces or characters into the textboxes (other than your username or password), as this will cause problems with the validation process.

Settings Your Logging Options

Now that you have validated your account information, the button "Build Module Now" should be enabled. Do not click this yet, as you have to set your logging options first!

To set your logging options (the items in which you wish to have iSpyNOW record when it is executed on a machine) simply check off each of the items you wish to have monitored. For example, if you want to record Chat Activity, you would select "Log All Chat Conversations".

Setting A Splash Alert

You have the option to make iSpyNOW show a warning message to the user being monitored. A splash alert is commonly used in workplace environments to let an employee know they are being monitored. The splash alert is optional. You may set custom messages for your splash alert if you choose to do so.

Note: Displaying a splash alert will let the remote user know they are being monitored. If you do not intend to let them know they are being monitored and wish to remain discreet DO NOT enable the splash alert screen. Visual Reference 2 below illustrates splash alert settings during module creation.'

Now that you have configured your module, it is time to save and deploy it to a remote machine!

Step 7

Now that you have validated your account information, and have completely configured your iSpyNOW module to your liking, you are ready to save your module. To do this, simply click the "Build Module Now" button. You will be prompted for a filename. You can name the module anything you would like, however, the filename must end in ".exe" (if you do NOT include the .exe extension, the iSpyNOW Tray Companion software will recognize this and automatically append it for you.)

Once you have selected a filename and location to temporarily store you iSpyNOW module, you should receive the following message:

If you do not see the above message, and receive an error, ensure that you have typed in a valid filename, and that you are saving it to an area on your PC or network drive that you have access too, and that there is enough disk space available.

Tip: When saving your module - be sure to remember where you saved it! This will be important as when it comes time to send the module to another machine via e-mail, you will need to know where the module is in order to attach it to the e-mail. If you have a hard time remembering where you store files - we suggest you save it directly to your desktop for easy access.

Step 8

Now that your module has been saved - you are ready to proceed to either monitoring your PC locally, or sending the module out remotely to monitor a machine you do not have physical access to.

Before moving onto the next step, please double check that the module you created is on your PC. Do not run this file, simply check to make sure that the iSpyNOW Tray Companion software did indeed create the module onto your PC.

Once you have verified that the file is on your PC, you are ready to move onto the next step! If you, for some reason, find that your module was not saved onto your hard, please repeat the previous step and ensure the module exists before proceeding.

Visual Reference...

The picture above shows that the iSpyNOW module was created successfully onto the Desktop (filename: ispynow1.exe).

Step 9

Congratulations! You have now successfully built your iSpyNOW module and saved it onto your PC. You are one step closer to monitoring a computer. At this point, you have one of two options. These options are as follows...

Option A. You want to monitor the machine that you created the iSpyNOW module on.

Option B. You want to monitor a remote machine, a machine that you do not necessarily have physical access to.

Depending on which option you selected, simply jump to that area of this page.

I opted for Option A (I want to monitor a local PC)

If you intend on monitoring your Local PC, all you must do is simply run the iSpyNOW module you created by double clicking it's icon. If you DID NOT choose the splash alert warning defined in step 6, the installation will be completely stealth (i.e. - when the module is executed, no popups, prompts, or dialogs will be displayed. Everything will be installed in complete secrecy). If you DID choose the splash alert warning your custom message will appear letting you know iSpyNOW has been installed on your PC.

I opted for Option B (I want to monitor a remote PC)
If you intend on sending the iSpyNOW module to a remote computer for monitoring, this is done by attaching the your newly created iSpyNOW module to an e-mail, and then sending that e-mail to the person you wish to monitor. Once the remote user receives the e-mail, that person MUST run the attachment (your iSpyNOW module) in order for it to begin recording his activities.

We have visually illustrated an example of this for you below.

Note: As you can see the file has been attached to this e-mail and it was named as ispynow.exe during module configuration. This e-mail can be composed anyway you see fit. Some users choose to write a greeting to their recipient. Once the module is attached and your e-mail is composed it can be sent to the Remote PC! Remember, as long as you did NOT set a splash alert, when the user runs the file, they will not see anything happen. iSpyNOW will simply install in complete and total stealth, and they will not know that they are being monitored (however, as per our license agreement, it is up to you to ensure that the user DOES know that they are being monitoring. If you fail to tell them, you are in violation of our license agreement, and free 1SpySoftware.com of any legal situations that could possibly occur).

A Few things to remember...

Please keep in mind, at all times, all of the following.

1. - Email Attachments

If you sent the email to a remote computer via email the user MUST open the exectuable attachment for iSpyNOW to begin monitoring. It cannot install on a PC if the user does not run your attched iSpyNOW module. We will not honor a refund if the remote user DOES NOT OPEN the attachment - this is up to you to ensure that it is done.

2. - Email Options

Some email receipents and systems may block executable attachments from being accepted. This can easily be avoided simply by dragging or dropping the iSpyNOW module into a WORDPAD or MSWORD document. Once this is done, you can email this document file with the embedded executable to the remote user or computer. Another way would be to ZIP compress the iSpyNOW module, and then have that module sent to the remote machine.

Step 10 - All done!

You have completed the iSpyNOW tutorial. If you have followed all our steps you are now ready to login to your iSpyNOW member account to view logs. Before leaving this tutorial, we would like to provide you with a few quick resources that you should keep handy.
